I used to bass fish a lot and used the manual sensitivity setting for finding fish holding to tight cover. But I have found in Striper fishing that they light up your screen so much auto settings work great. I use auto in chasing bait as well.

thanks guys, i just find it hard to believe me and my uncle have never been over a school of fish of any type while out on the lake... Question? Do you ever see bait on your screen? NO - then you might have a problem that can be fixed. YES - then you will see schools when you are on em.

Some lowrance units need to have their software updated out of the box, if not that can cause you problems as well. If thats been done and you have been changing settings etc and things do not work, go into menu, sonar and hit reset to factory settings. Lowrance is pretty good about their initial settings working good.
