Bush, to clarify. Since you are getting by with what you have right now, I am quite certain you will be able to get by with it in the Fall. I wouldn't worry about building a filter because I don't think you will be able to mimic a dedicated bait tank. Thus, just use what you have and buy another tank when you are ready. If you are constantly recycling the water, I additionally do not believe that a Dannco adds any extra value as well. That re-circulation pump you have creates more than enough oxygen via surface tension.
However, if you want to play like I do, you could design and build some cool stuff. If you have the room you could transform the outlet to the recirc pump into a standing pipe that then feeds the water to your filters very similar to an sbtII. You could also build a filter above your water that is fed via that recirc pump similar to the Grayline tank design. Or, you could build a fancy filter that you put straight into the tank similar to the KeepAlive design. All of these options will filter the water well. Your issue will be keeping the water cool and ease of use in terms of cleaning the filter. And these issues were too big for me to overcome. I would also be concerned with alewife scales, especially if you attempt the KeepAlive design option.
Have fun thinking about it!

I would say 50% of the tank is under the console is there a way I could insulate that and wrap something around the front when fishing to keep cooler? Also is provides a great seat now that I am not sure I can give up. It's a family boat as well when I am not fishing. I thought about taking the small seat/hatch out of the back and placing a tank in the very back of the boat but I don't have the money for a sb2 at the moment.

I thought about taking the small seat/hatch out of the back and placing a tank in the very back of the boat but I don't have the money for a sb2 at the moment. I would first determine if this problem exists before fixing it. In my case, my tank would start a summer day at 65 degrees using well water and would end the day at 80 degrees. All of my tank is enclosed and the top of the tank is partially shaded by a bimini in the summer. I was considering spraying foam around the tank similar to the inside of a hot tub. This is when I gave up! My boat is a fishing boat for me but a family boat for my wife! My wife is as picky as they come! If we go out, the bait tank used to stay home just like the trolling motor. However, she has been shown the value of a smooth and silent troll and our son likes to play with his water toys in the bait tank. Thus, they have become permanent fixtures on our "family boat!"

All I have to say is that I had that exact same recirc pump in my aft live well. I crossed the Cape Lookout shoals in a bad spot and got stood up by a breaking wave and then slammed back down into the water. I then proceeded to run offshore and when I slowed down when I reached the artificial reef, the boat felt very sluggish.... That pump had snapped off and since I was using my livewell in the open-loop mode, constantly pumping in fresh water, my high speed pickups were putting water into the livewell and then through the broken pump into the bilge where the bilge pump couldn't keep up! The worst part was my livewell fully of menhaden was half-dead!!!!
Duct tape and a popping cork plugged the hole, most of the bait lived but was red-nosed and didn't make it all the way through the day.
Not helpful, I know, but seeing that unsupported re-circ pump triggers me because it could have sunk me.

I have a couple of 14 gallon keep alive tanks that I will sell if your interested. Not the best tanks in the world but they worked for me before I got my sbt. $100 each.

Cohesion I ended up getting that tank. Looks new and a great deal. I also picked up a 80lb trust riptide 24v ipilot trolling motor. i should be ready for fall as soon as the lower unit is done.
