This report is from my couch: A few guys been asking where I was fishing a couple weeks ago etc. Okay lower lake, south of the bridge. But even if I gave you and exact spot this is an example of what the fish are doing right now: We were fishing just off the shoals in Craddock and hit 5 fish in just a matter of 4-5 minutes a part. Marking a big school. Then the school left and the bite quit. Guys were saying damn John where the heck did they go? About 500 yards up the channel two boats were dragging bait. I said " watch up lake that way". It was a wild guess but suddenly both boats had lines getting hit and fish on, that lasted all of 2-3 minutes and then it was over. Made me look like a damned smart guy. I wasn't sure if the fish would run up lake or down lake but I guessed correctly. The fish will find the optimum level of temperature, O2 and bait or whatever and run that line. Don't ask me to explain it I just know it from seeing it for years. You'll see a lot of the older guides will sit in one spot this time of year and just wait on the fish to come back through to them once they find the correct depth they're at. So again even if I told you to fish the shoals in Craddock or the damn or outside channel at Emerald island as soon as you read it the fish will have moved. However rumor has it that the fish are residing in Mwards cove---just sayin.

Last time a checked the BW stringer Mward replaced the 5 stripers with 6 carp, 3 LMB and a jetski. And to think, I thought we were friends!!

And I can tell you there is no stringer in my cove - well, maybe there is but I didn't put it there as I've not caught enough fish in May to make a stringer.... of course I only fished two mornings in May..... I'm ready for June!

Guess I better hook up a trip wire to keep you away from the rods on my side of the boat.

;D My fishing buddy has developed a technique similar to a running backs stiff arm. You simply can't beat him to a rod if its near him.
