4/29 We fished BW running 4 bank side planners and 2 creek side with 2 floats using a mongo bank side then spreading out a variety of sizes with some ales mixed in. We picked 4 fish all bank side and had several places the bait was very nervous. Later that night we headed up a creek and put out a spread of blue gill and shad by midnight and not much catfish action with 5 boats around us that did not seem to be doing much we called it a night. On the way back to the dock we decided to throw the net at some lights and caught a citation crappie. We relocated him back to our dock hopefully to catch next year when he is even bigger and with a hook.
4/30 We fished the same spread except used a 2 oz weight on the center bank board to try and deter them from tangling with the long tails. Did have the police boat come up beside us waved I guess looked at the registration with binoculars and took off. We picked up a few fish pretty quick and seemed like the weighted board picked up 3 LM bass with largest at 5lbs. came back in for some food and sleep and missed the afternoon trip. I guess I should have set an alarm. Went out that night to a different spot and caught one flathead and had one at the boat that I think might have placed but broke it off at the boat. The rain was pouring and after that we called it a night.
5/1 Up early fished the rest of our bait close to home had some nervous bait but did not produce any fish but we were pretty tired.
Had a great weekend with my family fishing. Nothing produced on our mongos but every time we brought them in they looked like a prize fighter all bloody and battered. Several times you could see something was after them and several times they were out running the board. I wanted to thank StriperJohn and Mward with the filters and bait tank advice. With 6 mongos 10 or so dollar bills and a variety others and ales or maybe what we thought were blue backs 6-9" long we did not loose a single bait all weekend. The challenger tournament did not have any striper or Musky turned in. LM was 9.5 with the rest in 5 -6 range and catfish 18-23 range.
