I have a 30gal ez flow tank with a dannco bulkhead I installed, curious as to how many 10 inch+ shad I can keep in it without overcrowding my tank? Would like to keep them for a day or two of fishing,,,,thoughts?

Maybe 18ish for multi-day. I wouldn't push more than 24 and that's probably too many. The issue with smaller tanks is often the width for larger baits to easily turn and just overall banging into each other. Then there is just the volume it water to which they are outputting waste. More frequent partial water changes will help.

What about a 50 gal. tank? (X-treme Tank) Probably 36 10" baits - less as baits get bigger - more as they are smaller. Water temp and how much they are crapping out will matter too - the fuller that tank the more water changes will need to be done

Would like to keep them for a day or two of fishing,,,,thoughts? I have kept 22-24 overnight and throughout the next day in my 30 gallon EZ Flow. Water changes are essential, as well as filter cleaning. I have also found that removing the scale basket makes a huge difference in the EZ Flow tank. For some reason they catch all of the slime and begin to clog pretty quickly.

The SBT basket will catch tones of slime too - I'll leave it in when first catching gizzards to help trap it - but leave it out after waters when away from the tank.
I also use some stuff called Ehfifix as a top layer in my filter box to trap all the slime as it washes it very easy and keeps most of it off your foam or poly filters

Gator- thanks for sharing- I notice that too- my screen is always covered in brown slime 1-2 hrs after putting them in the tank. Really good tank- did you add a dannco? Added one to my ez flow and seldom lose bait but do regular partial water changes.
Mike- just looked that stuff up on amazon- great reviews....did you buy the green ones off there? Looks like it it charged to attract dirt and other impurities, you use that for ales too? They dont seem nearly as dirty as gizzards unkess you count all the 3000 scales they shed....

I don't know about you guys, but I would rather put shad Poo in my salad than scrape ale scales off my boat and rods.

I think the R&D department at gorilla glue should be investigating ale scales.

The ales don't have the slime but it catches some ale poo and some of the scales - not that your filters wouldn't though - I just don't bother to remove it I've gotten it on-line. Also, look for it to be sold at BaitTankFilters.com soon in a package size better suited for the typical filter boxes.

I think the R&D department at gorilla glue should be investigating ale scales. You're not kidding. Ale scales and smooth surfaces form an almost unbreakable bond. After catching them in large quantities at the lights I'll have to scrape tons of scales off my arms and legs (when wearing shorts) - and still find them a week later.... and the only thing that seems to get them off the smooth Fiberglass is some Clorox and a pressure washer
