Hey guys this catching bait thing is new to me and my buddy and looking for some insight if possible. First off just wanna say we are fishing and throwing a net from kayaks and basically just want to get on some/any bait if possible. Was wondering if anyone has seen much up above or below Hardy recently, no need to divulge honey holes haha. Anything that can maybe save us a few dozen miles of fruitless paddling to find bait would be much appreciated!

I'd work the area around the Hardy ramp, BayRoc finger-docks & marina docks and those little cuts around that - bait is near and should be up shallow.
What size net are you throwing off the yak? Just be careful - water is still coldish.

BigD.. Did you see me pull up and throw at bayroc on Thursday? I saw three kayaks throwing there. Holler at me if you see me out. I didn't think to say something as I had mongo fever. I would be very happy to share anything I have learned... especially with a man throwing from a yak!
The big bait was right there. You have to literally pull it out of the mud.

You have to literally pull it out of the mud. As in, they were in like 2 feet of water? Up super shallow?

Yes. At least 5' or less and often in a lot less. That may change for a bit with this cold snap though

^^^ Thanks for the info.
I guess when there that shallow, just about any net will do... No need to throw my 1" mesh 10' Tim Wade

These questions are a little off topic, but still leads to bait in shallow water. Will Lowrance StructureScan show the bait that is in less than 5 feet of water? Also is there any reports of how well the 3-D StructureScan is doing in shallow water? Is the 3-D really worth the extra thou$$$$. Gezz... why does the good stuff always cost so much?

We thought that was you!! The 6ft net was proving to be more than we bargained for without much needed practice, the 3.5ft was easy so we just figured we knew what we were doin lol. My buddy Danny is the net man in the green yak and im in the white one, hes a little more stable than my big but. If ya see us out swing on by and chat if you get a sec, we always appreciate like learning from pros. Btw we were both remarking how amazing it is watching you guys toss those nets, it was a thing of beauty
