Just wanted to say I've been reading these boards for years . Besides a night or two each year I hadn't striper fished much . Towards the end of last year I decided to try and learn how to jig for them . Between this board and a few guys from my campground ( waterfront) I caught a couple jigging . This year I plan on jigging a lot and will post reports if I catch anything . Quick question . When the shad spawn is on can you still catch them jigging or is that when you need to be out at night . This ol boy doesn't handle long night very well anymore . Haha

I'm not aware of anytime that jigging doesn't work. During the ale spawn, top water becomes productive, but jigging still works as well. Just don't throw all your eggs into vertical jigging... Try horizontal and various other techniques such as lightning fast retrieval or whatever you can think of.
