Headed up to the lake on 12-04 arrived at the boat launch around noon. Started up the Roanoke arm in search of bait. Thought this was going to be easy… Was I wrong
never have fished this late in the year, so all was new to me. Marked a few balls of bait deep to far for my net. Started to hit the shallows and throw blindly. It was
looking very dark for us four hours in and no bait. Went to the back of a creek that has been good to me this year and started throwing. As luck would have it I hit a net of
33 7 to 10 in gizzards in a foot or two of water. Ran up the river into the mud line looking for a place to fish in the morning but too me the water looked to bad.Headed back
down and looked at the mouths of some creeks and just inside some. Marked lots of fish holding close to the bottom in one creek and some bait close by so this was it, we
will fish here in the morning.12-5 cold as could be running up the lake passed a lot of boats holding in the main river. Thought about changing my plan but decided to stay with it.
Pulled into creek I wanted to fish and two other boats were there so this looks good. Pulled boards three on each side one live line and one down rod. Had a few come and take
a look at the bait but no takers. Stayed in creek till 9 or so then moved down to another creek. Spotted fish on the bottom in 30 feet of water dropped down a frisky shad
and hooked up no big fish but it was a fish. Stayed there for a while then moved to one more place. Same as the other fish on the bottom, shad down and fish in the boat. Started
to the check in to see how everyone else did. Thanks to the Mafia for putting on a great event. Thanks to all I have meet at these two events for sharing information.I have only
fished SML a dozen times or so and I learn something new every time I come up. Look forward to seeing all in march and maybe if I can a trip this winter to chase the birds.
and for team Lawrence you earned it that had to be tough. Again thanks to all really enjoyed
