Catapillar - I was wondering last night if that was you and your wife - I was out with my buddy Mark yesterday in his blue and white bay boat with t-top - we saw that tangle mess - sorry they snagged you up like that. I think Mark talked with you for a minute while you were trying to untangle the aftermath. It's "close quarters" fishing this time of year. On bait, your best best this time of year for live bait alewives - and easiest to get them off dock lights before daylight. 3/8" or 1/2" mesh net. I don't like using boards this time of year - especially now as we are in late July and August, because you often need to check the baits due to them dying with the thermocline or heat - though they do seem to do better at the lower end of the lake. The other reason is when chasing schools and needing to make quick turns and such, boards can be a pain to deal with. With the fish at 30-50' (or heck - 115' as we saw) - Downlines are your best bet anyway. As to trolling artificials - classic umbrella rigs with blue/white, Pearl or green seem to work - no reason your a-rigs would not work but you got to get them deep enough. Better luck next time - was a tough bite in that area yesterday..... Bringing to the top for a previous inquiry for bait of choice.

One thing I learned last weekend fishing with my wife is once you catch some bait go ahead and fish I wasted too much time on the bait and we didn't have time to fish and she's been ribbimg me about it.
