What do you need big gizzards for right now? The bite is better keyed in on the smaller alewifes and the fish are starting to move deeper (as are the alewifes). Wait and use those big gizzards some fall when they go back in feast mode - and the larger fish that may be caught with them can be successfully released.

Dock lights at night - lights in 17-30' of water will produce the best as summer warms.

Hey big are they? Because to be honest I'm gonna try a different style of trolling and they need to be pretty decent sized

Anywhere from 4" to 8"+ with some of the monster alewives or blue backs going 10"+

Were you able to find some good bait? How'd the trolling technique work out?

I don't get down towards Craddock at night, but If you can find a dock with a good light on it that is in 15' or so of water, I expect you will find alewives.... size may vary of course. Larger gizzards are likely in the backs of creeks - saw some flipping way in the back of a cove/creek finger just below the State Park today but the girls on the boat would not let me break out the castnet and start throwing

Yep - it took much restraint from the wife, kids and their friends to keep me from pulling out the 10' / 3/4" net and start throwing

Caught 3 dandelions instead. Probably need a smaller mesh for the wasps and the finch are way too fast this time of year.

I still have yet to get down there and look for bait at night, but hopefully I might get to do it this weekend. It's just been really busy recently and I haven't been able to do anything yet.
