Hey, I'm driving down to SML this weekend from NY, been having a great saltwater season up here with the Stripers & Blues. I'm not much of a freshwater fisherman so I'm looking for some advice on what to use to target Largemouth Bass and Stripers on SML. Any type of advice will be greatly appreciated. Also I'm very interested in techniques for catfish.

welcome to the prettiest lake south of the Finger Lake region. I guess the first question is Boat?/No Boat? assuming your lake mobil the method of choice for most is trolling live bait. Check out past reports and particularly the Striper "How To" section of the forum. I think there's even a post titled " How I fish live bait for Stripers"...or something like that. On the artificial side...you can throw jig heads with white fluke on main channel points, especially early AM and late evening. If your electronics are any good keep your eye out for decent size schools below. Drop that fluke down to them and jig just like you would in the salt...but smaller lifts. This time of year the stripes can blitz the surface as a big school or as scattered...if you see it...come up on the outskirt of the bits with your trolling motor and throw the fluke to the boils.
If your fishing from the shore/dock your striper opportunity is somewhat limited...unless they happen to move by. Night time is a good time to throw top water baits ( red fins, spooks, etc...). I'm far from the most qualified to offer the above but I couldn't leave a brother from the Empire State hanging.
Last thing...dangerous weekend on the lake. Be on high alert at all times. There are more idiots on the water then any other time of year. Good luck.
