I will be making a trip down next week. We are staying in Gills Creek. Usually fish anywhere from Standiford on down towards Bull Run. Just wondering if anyone has any report on how the night bite has been in this area? Or where you would recommend starting out with artificials at night? Thanks fellas!

Last year the best advice I heard was to drive to an interesting spot on the map, stop your boat, and listen for 5 minutes. If you hear something that sounds like a cinder block being dropped into the water, you have found the right place to fish. Otherwise, go to the next spot.
Points, humps, structure, major changes in depth, creek channels whatever seems cool to you.
I did this last year during the ale spawn. And when I first heard the sound... I am pretty sure I wet my pants! My heart was pumping fire and sure enough I caught my first night fish on a thunderstick!
Good times!

No doubt the night bite is a cool thing... But... It just doesn't appeal to me like big bait fishing. Summer is my time to give my wife extra love and to mend the damage done by spring fishing. And of course, to set the stage for Fall!

Sure would be nice if I could mend those fences with mine. Can't believe she puts up with me at all. Let alone all the fishing, hunting and a rodeo here and there and did I mention a rodeo.
Yams advice was pretty accurate. I'll be out tonight. I'll be the guy with a cowboy hat on. Hopefully getting it done.

I think they are all over the lake. From 48 all the way to the dam. Fish the creeks and fish em hard. I'll post me Saturday report soon.
