On Saturday I fished from 11:00 am until 5:30 pm. A friend had given me a tip from his trip last Sunday. The fish he found were in very deep water so I planned to do nothing but jigging in hopes that I could pick up a few. Fish were scattered and scarce and still in 60-80 feet of water. The wind was tough at times and when I did find fish, I could not stay with them very long. Every time I would take a second pass I rarely found fish in the same spots. I did head further up lake in the late afternoon and found some fish but caught nothing all day.
Sunday I was only able to fish from 9:00 until 2:30. It was not until just after noon that I even found a fish. What I did find was still pretty deep (60-70 feet) and in the main channel. I tried just about everything I could. I had fish dart up and take a look but could not hook up. There was a little change in the weather around 1 pm when the wind stopped and the number of fish in the schools seemed to increase. I was feeling a little more confident and had one strike but I missed. At 1:30 the clouds began to thicken and the wind picked up. It was at that point that I started to fold my tent and head to the house. I was able to drift across that same school again and the fish were up between 30-40 feet. I hit the spot lock and was able stay on them for about 20 minutes and picked up two small fish. The wind picked up again and I decided to call it a day.
