My Minn Kota V2 I-pilot thinks fishing is like NASCAR. This morning it would only turn left!!! Cannot get the remote to make it turn right. Unplugged it and plugged back in, but still only goes left. Any thoughts. Of course its just a little over a year old, so I'll bet its out of warranty. I'm going to replace battery in the remote. Had plenty of trolling motor battery left. Thanks for any help...

R37 - I think they have a three year warranty - might want to check with Ben over at SML Marine Electronics off Burnt Chimney Rd.
However, I'd check a few things.. Might be the remote battery, but if it's only one direction button and everything else is OK, it's unlikely.
Some of the earlier remotes had some weak plastic that went between the rubber buttons that you press and the circuit board and the "leg" would break off. Was an issue with mine and MinnKota sent me a replacement part and had me in business. I also found that on the circuit board, there was a metal "cap" that had been bent/deformed, probably from my pushing on it so hard when it was not working - I used a small flathead screwdriver to pry it back up gently and with the new part all has been well.
Open the remote and check out the plastic "tree", it will be obviously what I'm talking about when you open it. I think it was one of my left or right direction buttons that went out as well.

Thanks MWard. When I opened the remote I peed my pants, thought I broke it. I know exactly what you mean by plastic tree. Hope I've got 3 years on the warranty!! I'll check it now. Heading back to Hillsborough in a little while...kills me.

Problem appears to be resolved. My son put a new battery in the remote (same numbers on the batteries) but the remote would not even power up. Called Minn Kota on Tuesday and they said the circuit board might have been damaged when his dad took the battery out, and offered to send a replacement (its a two year warranty, btw). Aaron put the old battery back in the remote, and it fired right back up, right turn button works fine. I'm guessing taking it apart re-aligned the plastic tree. Don't know why the new battery didn't work, but what the heck. Got the new remote yesterday from Minn Kota. Great customer service! PM me if anyone needs to borrow the extra remote to save a fishing trip.
