Left home with friend 1am to arrive around 4am -- word was big bait down low would have to get them early morning before sunrise. 1/2 way there mommy deer on one side of road and 2 babies on the other ==== the babies waited for me to get right next to them before they jumped into the front of my wife's 3500 duelie - horse hauling machine. They hit the driver side corner slid down, hit the wheel well sticking out on the truck and proceeded to get crushed and run over by the double wheel well of my trailer hauling the boat. when things were said and done -- all lights work --big dent in truck wheel well - and trailer wheel well will need a little work but a few bungee chords later -- we were back in business. The new arrival time is now 5am -- ended up with 10 pieces of bait (8 to 12 inches) a friend who was there from Lake Anna gave us 2 mid morning ----- the others were caught over the course of the day -- got on some birds and breaking fish 7am to 8:30 -- my buddy was using an old rattle trap and caught 3 -- I broke off one and never could catch another with the jig. My friends first fish on Big Giz in the afternoon --
Pulled the big shad one at a time down banks / steep cliffs -- ended day with 5 fish with big shad -- 30 inches to 34 inches --- NO breaking fish in the evening -- on the way home 6 pm -- Caught this on in the morning on an old school Rattle trap -- Thank you SML -- see you in the New Year.

Oh Deer!!! Man I'm sorry to hear that. I always worry about that on my early morning trips - it's only a matter of time around here. . . .Just glad it wasn't worse!
