Ok, I am new to board but have read for some time. I have houseboat (and other boats) at marina near mountain. I plan to take the houseboat out for long weekend early March (and other times if can get away) and anchor with fishing boat there. Will have all tools for fishing right with me. LED Green light for nighttime fishing and bait, fishing boat and food/shelter/entertainment in houseboat. The question of the forum is: Should I go to back of Bull Run, back of CC or some other part. Don't want to go too far in the houseboat and distance from Dam to back of Bull Run is about as far as I want to go, so going to end of the R or end of Blackwater is too far. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks Robert

Hopefully some others that fish down that way more consistently can/will comment, but I think you're probably thinking on the right track.... Bull Run might be interesting....

That time of the year there should be fish in the areas you named. Watch the reports up to the time you get here and look back at old posts for that time of the year. Might consider a guide.

Thanks, I will keep an eye out. Have been fishing SML since 1970 and really wanted boards thoughts on those two spots or others at that time of year, as I have not tried to stay out on my houseboat for 4 or 5 Days just to fish and wanted to be in best spot for that.

It's been my experience on the BW that in early March the fish schools are a bit further up the river...nearer to the cliffs. In late March, the fish are usually working there way downriver from there.
However, BR and little bull run can be productive pretty much throughout the year.
Good luck.

If you are on the water at night, fish Bar Island and Dam Island, at the entranceway to the dam. It is typically better fishing off these in the summer, but you can't go wrong by at least taking a shot fishing these anytime as they offer shallow water approach to islands off very deep water channels.
