What a difference between last year and this year. Last year, I despised live bait fishing and had Moormans, the birds and breaking stripers galore to myself and one other boat. I had a few poles and either threw a spoon or a top water bait.
This year, I am a big bait addict, Moormans was a parking lot and I might have saw one or two blowups not caused by the shad I was shoving in the stripers faces. I have so much fishing crap now, i cant even begin to describe it.
I learned a great deal about many things these last few days. I never spent much time on the water fishing without a tank full of big shad. I took part in catching many, many fish from 8-20 pounds. I watched my buddy manhandle a heron as I removed a hook from his foot. I heard many turkeys calling. I adapted to many different scenarios. And finally, I pondered why the hell I love to fish so much.
Bottom line, I have no clue why I love fishing so much. But I do know that I love to watch other boats with grandpas and young children catch fish. I love sharing information with others. I get a thrill out of others having fun especially if I helped in their journey. And I get some dynamic high from being on the water.
And I am very thankful for the special people I have met over the last year on SML and for my special relationships that have grown with my friends.
Maybe one day I will be able to catch a monster and never tell a single soul. But I doubt it...

Plus 1. Pretty darned cool, isn't it? I swear, like you, I almost don't care if I catch fish as long as I get to see someone else do it! I love the GoPro vids people post of those strikes and fights!

Yam - did you fish Sunday? I was wishing I was out there - nasty, cloudy, drizzly - I could just imagine all the stripers going nuts. Were they?
