Set the alarm for 3 am and arrived at the ramp at 3 am or so. No sleep again. Saw another boat at the ramp and was eager to chat... But they were leaving not starting. So once again it was me, silence and shooting stars with many crunching sounds as I waded through the peanut stew in my boat. No ales.. No mongos... But.. At 4am or so I did listen to a striper feeding frenzy that lasted for about an hour. Sporadic but consistent.
My buddy arrived and we had big plans today. But once again we had a heck of a time landing our target bait. We ended up fishing for an hour or so and caught 2-10 pounders, lost one and had a monster come up and engulf a free line mongo way back behind the boat (action caught on video) only to break either my 20 pound flouro or my crappy Palomar knot on the stinger.
When this thing hit, we both were electrified. It was definitely something very big. I have never heard nor seen this kind of action before. But alas, it got away. Or did it? .. I look forward to analyzing my footage once I can get my couch to stop rocking back and forth.
Getting big bait has been quite a challenge this November. Catching fish with big bait has been a breeze.

At 50 I learned a valuable lesson the hard way. When throwing the big heavy net over and over in search of the elusive big shad one should wear the tennis elbow supports on both forearms. I learned this after I returned from sml and spent 3 months in therapy so that I could perform basic tasks like brushing my teeth, taking and shower, and some other more personal items without wincing in pain. From throwing the net about 100 times in a 36 hour period I was diagnosed with tennis elbow in both arms. Took me 18 months to fully recover without surgery. Its not the loading and throwing its the retrieve that causes this. I have now mastered the technique so I don't cause further injury. I load and throw and have someone else retrieve Sent from my XT1080 using proboards

I just ordered another monster with 2 more pounds of weight. I might need that winch!
No doubt I had tennis elbow a bit last year. My doctor told me to alleviate the issue, keep working on the motion until you build the appropriate muscle mass. My pain is now gone in the elbows. There was one point I thought I was screwed and had admitted defeat to father time. I am back to invincible!
Bring on the beast!

Bigger diameter or just heavier? Isn't "Timmy" 1.7 lbs/ft already?

Actually Mr Wade himself clarified today that Timmy was a 1.5. He said he told me that a 1.5 would feel like a 1.7 in any other net. He was right. So I thought I had a 1.7 but I was wrong. Today I ordered a 1.7. This one will be referred to as Tim. Timmy and Tim.
Mr. Wade also sent me a braille line kit for Timmy with crimps to replace the hand knots. Apparently his nets are designed to handle snags in such a manner that the braille lines break rather than tearing large chunks out of the net. Timmy broke a few lines on a stump last week and he just ain't the same. This kit for 15 bucks should make Timmy whole again. Apparently, many pros order several braille line kits a year.
Mr Wade also mentioned today that he has seen a major jump in sales from Virginia in the last year. Hmmmmm interesting stuff.
