From some of the post from the last few days, sounds like some of the bigger fish are starting to show up........ Please guys, if at all possible, release them to grow bigger and fight another day........ I don't know how anyone can justify starting the slot nov. 1st.

People are dropping in them the cooler faster than you would believe. See it every trip. Every time I see it in cold water, I think 'well there's another 12-15yrs to replace that one'. I'll be in my 40s by the time we even have a chance to replace the two from yesterday .

What makes fishing so much fun is the adrenaline from the chase. To know you were able to catch such a beautiful creature. And at times, I enjoy a nice striper or two for dinner. But my family and I can get stuffed on 2-24 inch fish. Chopping up a 30+ is just wrong. These fish represent the best of their breed and we should all show them respect and get them back in the water ASAP! Please... I beg all my fishing brothers and sisters to take pride in throwing them back!
Eat the dinks... They taste better anyhow!

As for the one I caught, it was out of the water for less than a minute and swam away quickly to fight another day. I don't eat fish but may keep the occasional catch for friends or family. I usually keep the ones that are bleeding badly. I am pretty new to striper fishing but hunted for 25 years before losing interest. From the time I have spent reading this forum, I have definitely learned that we are very fortunate to have SML and collectively have the responsibility to help it grow. I appreciate your tips on how each of us can do things to make things better for our children and grandchildren.
