Lately I've been trying to figure out a way to keep gizzard alive, is there like a bait fish feed of some sort to help keep them going for long periods of time eventhough it may only be a few days or weeks??
I've also just within the last two days noticed that I can't find them where I was catching them ( off my dock at Leesville Lake) any suggestions??

If your only keeping them for a few weeks, I wouldn't feed them at all. They'll only make more of a mess in your tank. Good luck.

Well I don't think I'll need to worry about that, I've got a bait basket that sits in the lake

Are they dying in the cage? 2x2 is pretty small for gizzards. I doubt they are dying if starvation. Some have been in Tyler's home tank for months now - emaciated but alive.
My guess if they are rubbing on the sides if the cage, getting fin-rot or the water temps are not hospitable to the shad

If they're in the lake in a cage, they'll eat what's in the water. Mine feed like crazy when I do a water change. They don't need to eat in a tank for like 2months then they'll start starving some if you're not changing the water much. In a cage, they'll never starve I wouldn't think unless the waters not fertile.

Well they'll be in a cage, but I'll got a problem... I can't find them anywhere, I looked everywhere yesterday and couldn't seem to pull any bait

Strong shoulders a big net and good electronics! They're are a few in the creeks around 5 ft but move deeper as water warms. What I do is throw .... Throw..... And throw some more! I like to think that I learn somthing each toss!

Well I tried going into Tri county cove, I guess I could refer to what you'd probably call the western side of Goat island, I small cove just across from Goat, and two other coves on the other side of the lake from Tri County. I mean I have noticed that they're much deeper than they were like 3-4 weeks ago so, haha should I just attach an extra long rip to my cast net rop.

Well I just thought about it, hopefully since this cold front is coming through they'll come back where they were a little.
