What size Line and leaders are you guys using?
I use 17lbs Berkley Trilene extra tough Mono with 15lbs Berkley Fluorocarbon leaders.
( My line is on the light side but, lighter line catches more fish)
But, I do plan on changing to 17lbs Fluro leaders in the future.. As, I have broke off a few nice fish this year.

all of my live bait reels are equipped with 20# Ande fishing line.
depending on the time of year, my leaders change. I really like the Yo-Zuri disappearing pink flourocarbon leader. Spring/Fall fishing big bait, I use the 20# leader, summer I think I have 15# on all my downlines.

17 lb stren w/17 lb fluorocarbon leader. Just what I happened to pick up. Only thing that has busted with a fish on is an Eagle Claw hook I used to have. Something (prob a cat) snapped the hook in half where it bends. I don't buy Eagle Claw anything anymore.

If we're talking live bait reels, I use 25lb Big Game or similar. Leaders are 15-25lb fluorocarbon..Yo Zuri Pink or Seaguar Red Label is very good for the price.
Casting/jigging..generally 15-17lb mono and 20lb braid.

20 lb big game on 8 downrods/planer rods and 80 lb braid on two MH rods for umbrellas. I use 20 lb flourocarbon for all leaders. Using 30 lb braid on jigging/casting rods often with a short flourocarbon leader attached with a barrel.

bass casting rods w/ 15lb power pro yellow for casting cranks and flukes bass casting rod w/ 20lb power pro green for jigging and thunder stick bass spinning rod w/ 10lb power pro yellow for reaching out there! Smaller jerk baits and lite fluke(this is also my got-cha rod at the coast) (yellow to see when everything gets tangled at night! ) Live bait rods have 20lb big game! (buy the pound spool, will save in the long run! Re spool every new season. twice a year! ) Leaders depends on the bait size! From 12lb - 20lb fluro! One day I'm going to get that 12 busted with a alewife but that's ok 7' heavy casting rods w/ cheep penn reels with 40lb fluorescent green pLine for them big flatheads 12' surf rod with 20lb big game for anchor rod 6' fighting rod Diawa sealine 50 w/ 500yards 50lb braid with 80 yards of 80lb braid to fight them kings around the pier with 80lb bite proof steel leader! Covers about everything besides my bait catching trout rod I have 4lb Fluro Wish I could put some money to equipment to have everything match for my cat & striper stuff but it just don't work out some times!!

I just use the "outstretched arms" method. Never measured but assume its 6-7 feet.
