well i didnt get there until about 10 am. caught 1 small striper in about 30 min. then i pulled a muscle in my back , couldnt hardly move after that.i appeared to me they just finished shocking around noon. seen a few other boats, some with live bait, and others artificial, never seen anyone catch a fish. couldnt take the pain any longer , pulled out at 3 pm. the 1 i caught was on a 1/4 oz jig with a white fluke. does anyone know if the shocking affects the bite?

Yes, I have caught fish while watching the shocking boat coming towards me, soon as they pass the fish shut off. From what i have seen it only affects them for 2 or 3 hours.

They shock Monday and Tuesdays every week. They stop shocking on those days when they get the amount of females they need. So you really never no how far they go down to find those females. And it only effects the fish that get shocked. I fish the rocks on those days because they don't come up very far from brookneal shocking. It only affects the fish that gets shocked.

Had a friend fish from the landing in Altavista up yesterday after work, one smallmouth was the only hit he got. My bet is he is back to Brookneal this afternoon!

I think the key word was "had" - you know, past tense....
