Got my son out for another short morning trip. I caught bait last night about 10pm - one throw nailed enough bait for me and 10 other boats. We got out on the water about 7:30-7:45 this morning and headed up above the bridge. We had some quick action right away then slow n steady for the next hour or so. We caught 4-5 up to 35”. All fish came on weighted alewives except for the 35” fish hit a freelined 9-10” gizzard shad. I missed one other on a freelined shad as well. Water temps were 77ish in the morning.
We had some friends down for a dock party and the boys caught another 3-4 off the dock as well.
These gizzard shad have been in my house tank since February. They’re a little skinny but they are pretty and tough as nails.
