9/11 fishing. Went out in the morning with my new livescope and the first time shooting docks. Looking for crappie down across from damn on deep water docks. Never located any crappie but was very excited with the new livescope. I was able to see some bass ans target them with good results. I must say that this dock shooting will take some getting used to but i was much better when i came out than when i went in. All in all a fun trip and a good day om the lake. I just need to figure out where to look for the crappie but thats part of the fun figuring it out. Safe fishing and successful days to all of ya.

I don’t believe you’re gonna find many numbers of crappie down towards the dam.
Not saying there isn’t any, I’ve just never seen any really.
Best to go up river BW or Roanoke.
On BW side gills creek and up you should be able to locate some crappie without to much trouble, I can’t say much for the Roanoke side, because I never fish it
Stick to docks that are close to river channel or creek channel, 20-25’ of water
Outside bends in channels are my go to spots

What he said. I’ve looked all through craddock and those nearby creeks, without finding many.
Steep banks behind docks are better than shallow tapered banks, usually.
