Yes Back Creek is above Hardy about a mile up there I guess near the explore park. Water get shallow up there if you don't know the channel.

Thanks man. We was just out playing around that day..
That was a fish i tagged, pretty neat...
Sad part, almost every citation or near citation fish ive tagged in the past 2couple years was harvested... its not illegal, but i guess people will never learn about catch n release of trophy fish for the future.....

Speaking of tags, this fish was tagged at 36.5" in April of 2011 and we caught it last week and it was 36.5". 0" growth in two years. I like that. That's why all of these 30s are showing up! In all seriousness, we've boated quite a few recently in the 14-20lb range and they all looked very healthy with the exception of this fish. It looked starved. But it did eat a huge bait so I don't know what's wrong with it. Classic SML fish...all head and no gut. I've caught at least five tags and never sent them in..I do send Dan the data on them. Guess if I knew they were all $50, I would do it! I've caught a couple that I tagged and I feel weird about sending in my own tags for money. Plus I always lose them.

Hey Bentrod, I wrote out that check. I am the assistant treasurer for the Smith Mountain Striper Club. Dan sends me the letters for the tagged fish awards, I write out the checks and send out the letters. I remember your check. Most tags are not for fifty dollars. Dan randomly picks how much each tag is going to get paid. Very few are in the fifty dollar range, most are in the ten to twenty dollar range.
I was also surprised by the location. Most of the tags are right where you would expect them. Right now they are above the bridge and by May they will be down by the dam.
I also send out the Walleye tag checks for Philpot Lake. Almost all the Walleye tags come from just one mile marker.

Mail me another one Striperseeker. I never got that check!! ;D Believe you remember Riverdawgs check, but if you want to resend it to me, let me know and Ill give you my address. I'd just as soon release it with the tag left in the fish if its only $10. I give Dan the info anyways.
