I want to learn how to catch the cats myself. Hopefully going to go try it out this week one night. I was going to use shad but will also have to try some perch also.

Random question, as Ive read conflicting info over the years. Can "bream", perch, bluegill be caught in a cast net? I was always told you had to catch em with line and hook and then you could use them as bait? Just curious more then anything.

I wouldn’t risk it. Seems there was a recent thread on the Buggs forum about a guy getting in trouble for cast netting a bluegill.

I agree with John, not worth the risk.. I’m pretty certain you are NOT allowed to cast net bream/bluegill.

Pretty easy to catch on rod and reel anyway. Find a worm, find yourself bait.

No you can not catch bluegill for bat in a net. Shad/alwives or nongame fish are only bait you can use net for
