Sounds great. I personally have found jig and pig (black and blue) and senkos (black and blue sparkle) to kill on the Staunton. Jig I like them smaller, 3/8 oz. Senko wacky rigged.
Also I watched a guy slay walleye below Leesville dam area using a white jig with chartreus head. He swore by them and said daybreak was best for him. I havnt been in YEARS though.

I best daybreak is beautiful below the dam when they are not actively releasing water. The water was near mirror smooth at mid afternoon when the wind wasn't blowing.

Im not sure how close you can get to the dam these days...but starting in a few weeks if you can manage bucktails out near the larger gates the stripers will be playing ball. The guy I mentioned was working the rocky outcroppings slightly down river from the dam. He would show up around 5am (we fished all night for cats and stripers) and would catch walleye until sunrise then leave.

Brookneal boat landing has it moments if you can figure out a way to the log booms.
