Does anyone use drift socks to slow down trolling speed? Are there other suggestions to slow trolling speed?

You using a trolling motor or your big motor to troll? If your tring to use your big motor try doing it in reverse and see how slow you can go. if still not slow enough then you can try dragging a couple of bucets with holes drilled in it to slow you down. I had tried that before I baught my TM for my old CC boat. But make sure you clean the engine real good every now and again. It can cause carbon buildup. I had that problem and had to "flush" the big outboard every so often. Then I just decided to break down and by a TM was well worth it.

Thanks for the reply. I'm using my "big" 90hp. How long does your battery last on your tm?

What type of trolling are you doing? Pulling umbrella rigs and lure or pulling alewives/gizzards with in-line planer boards.
If pulling live bait then you want to be going 0.5 to maybe the 1.5 mph range. A properly sized trolling motor with good Grp 29 or 31 batts should last you a full day fishing. Looking at your boat, you'd want a 24V system for sure.
If you are pulling artificals at 3 mph range then am TM is not the right option. If you can't slow enough with the big motor think about a kicker motor.

I'll experiment with both. Thanks for the advice!
