From Mward..my Director of Communications!
"ProBoards, the service on which we host our Discussion Forums, will be doing a major upgrade of the forum software in the coming weeks. This upgrade adds a number of new features - a small selection of which is listed below.
Important - One thing that will change when we cut-over to the new version of software is that you will need to "upgrade" your account - the system should guide you through this - and from then on you will log in with your E-mail address you used to register your account instead of your user-id (your User ID still shows in the posts). I believe you will also be able to link your Facebook account and be able to log in using those credentials if you so desire.
Selection of New Features: - improved Forum search - Member search - help in finding a member's username to send a PM - "Like" feature - like a post - vs. having to respond/post "nice post!" - Avatars - create a cute picture of your ugly mug (I'd still rather see you post a pic of you holding that big striper) - Updated Attachments - post more than one attachment/pic to a post
Just wanted to provide this "heads-up" so that when the new software kicks in, you'll know what is going on when asked to upgrade your account."

I just want to know when I'm going to get my raise given the promotion from Janitor to "Director" and all.... ;D The net/net is when ProBoards upgrades the back-end software, the log-in process will change a little, and there will be a little different "look" - but all the same good ol' nonsense will remain

Just to clarify, I believe when we make the switch, you will be asked to log in using your username and password. It will ask you to verify or change the email you have on file with Proboards. Once you take that step, you should be upgraded and you will then be able to log in using either your username or email. You'll receive an email stating that you have successfully upgraded your account. So really, it is not really a big change and it's a fairly simple process for the members at least (I hope). There will be some new features and such to learn, but as far as getting logged in to the new forums, it should be relatively straightforward.

Admin......My comment was not intended for the members at large. ;D Their transistion to the new format will be relatively easy. It's the Admin position that will incur the mess you get with the new upgrade.

Look for this upgrade to happen in the next week or so. When it does happen, basically you will just have to log in (the page will look different but your user name and password will be the same), then you'll have to confirm your email address (you can change it then also if you would like to) and then you'll be redirected to the new site. It should be a simple and easy transition to get logged in. If you have any questions, feel free to ask or send myself or Mwardncsu a PM. Thanks.

As you can see, we got bumped to the new software. Hopefully, everyone can get logged in ok. Same password should work..you just need to verify your email. I've been pretty busy, so I haven't got a chance to look through everything yet, but will at some point. Let Mward or myself know if you find any issues. Thanks.

If you look at the bottom, there are links for recent posts and recent threads. It should bring up all of the recent stuff. Also, in the top right corner of the page, there is a button for recent posts you participated in.

I know, same as the old format. Just seemed like it was easier to see the new post on the old one without having to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. Maybe just my eyes.

Wasn't complaining, just an observation....but... I have always heard, the squeaky wheel always gets the grease.
