So I took my wife’s little cousin out last night, (he is in 5th grade) with intentions of doing some cat fishing. Caught some bluegill and shad and anchored up on a point. After about 2 hours with only one hit we decided we would try another spot. So on the way to next location I get a call from a good friend who said he was on a dock light that was covered in stripers..... we was about 15 minute boat ride away but he said he would sit on it and wait on us to get there to try and get this little fella his first Striper. Once we arrived I had him hooked up on second cast!!!!! Afterwards we hooked up with two more, biggest was 18lbs. 37”!!!! Boy I’m not sure who was more excited him or me. Had to keep two because they both died before I could get them back in water, long fight and fact that fish got all tangled up in net. Awesome!!! He will remember that for the rest of his life. Glad you got to share that time with him. I hate that people have to justify keeping fish. Your well within your right to keep em. Congrats!

I agree 100% with you on having to justify keeping fish. Anytime I keep a Striper I always feel I need to have a reason why when I post a report because I always feel like I’m being judged if not. Me personally I don’t care, I think if a fella wants to eat some fish he should keep whatever he wants, as long as it’s legal

I'm thinking that's why a lot of folks don't post up reports anymore... me included.

Oh forgot, congrats on putting the little one on fish. You got a fishing partner for life now. some of my most fun times are when my kids and grand kids catch fish. The easiest time to do that is when the fish are schooled up and weather wise also. Just remember, getting close to not releasing fish. Please everyone, catch your limit and stop.

Good report with the youngun!
No reason to feel judged. We’ve all killed fish and do kill fish, especially in warmer water.

Awesome job getting that young man on an awesome fish. No Judgement here like said before we all kill some fish. I have no problem with anyone keeping fish as long as they eat them or feed someone else.
