Just curious about others experience with a Carolina Rig vs Dropshot for downline fishing. I have always used a Carolina Rig but recently tried dropshotting on the downlines with alewifes and it seemed to work well. Just curious what others experience had been?

I simply have snap swivels attached to bell sinkers. Then, I just hook them to my swivel that is tied to my main line and my leader. I use 3 and 4 oz sinkers that work well for my trolling speeds. I guess this is the same as a Carolina rig only the weight doesn't slide. However, it's an easy option that doesn't require tying up something new nor does it make me devote rods to down lining.

Yam, This is exactly what I am interested in doing. However, I prefer to use a leader that is much shorter for downlines than when pulling boards. How long is your leader? Thanks.

I like what Yam is doing. An egg sinker with or without a bead pounds on the knot above the swivel. You can see and feel the damage.
Great idea.

I'm a fan of those as well. They sure make life easy.

When I saw "Carolina rig and dropshot" I got all excited. Then I remembered this is in the striper section. Airborne only catches stripers by accident (but never on a c-rig or dropshot).
