Another Striper Mafia season is in the books.... today's Spring Fling tournament, sponsored by Captains Quarters, was almost a picture perfect striper fishing day - overcast with periods of light rain - and little to no wind. Our anglers overall had the best catch rates we have seen over the past event events - with 29 of 47 teams catching two fish, 9 catching one and only 9 that did not submit fish pics at check-in.
- First Place today went to Team SquidHound - with a 37" and a 38.25" striper totaling 75.25".
- 2nd Place was awarded to Team Reely Blessed with a 33.75" and a 35.5" fish totaling 69.25"
- 3rd Place went to Team Donna's Doing It Big with a 32.75" and a 35.25" for a total of 68"
- 4th Place was secured by Team Anglin' Arthurs - a 31.25 and a 35.25" yielded a total of 66.50"
- 5th Place went to Team Hawg Wishin with a 32" and a 34.25 for a total fo 66.25
- 6th Place was won by Team Topwater Rushers with a 31" and a 35" for a total of 66"
Big Fish was awarded to Team Squidhound for the 38.25" striper
In addition, all teams & youth won door prizes and 5 non-placing teams won their entry fees back, and one team and one youth also won an Ugly Stik Striper Rod.
We had an incredible turn-out with 13 youth fishing in today's event - which I believe is a record for the Striper Mafia events.
- Wyatt with Team Reely Blessed took 1st Place with a 35.5 striper
- Addison of Team YellaTop took 2nd Place with her 33" fish
- Devan of Team Lawrence continues the tradition of the Lawrence Boys placing in Striper Mafia events with a 32.5" Striped Bass
Congrats to Wyatt, Addison & Devan, but also to all of the youth that participated today - and to their parents that gave them an opportunity to get out on the water!
Congrats to the winners and thanks to all the teams that came out to participate!
And last but cetainly not least - we blew away the amount collected last year as well as our goal of 500 jars!!!
716 jars of peanut butter were collected prior to and at the Striper Mafia Spring Fling tournament!!!!
Sea Tow collected from friends, neighbors, and members prior to the tournament, and Anglers contributed as a part of a raffle for a Striper Soup Moller Bait tank, two Catch the Fever Striper rods and a year’s subscription to Sea Tow.
All peanut butter collected was delivered by Sea Tow to Food for Kids Weekend Pack-A-Sack program that packs food in back packs. The bags go to children that qualify for free or reduced lunches to make sure those children do not go hungry when they are not in school and do not have to worry where their next meal comes from. Close to 400 students at Goodview, Huddleston, Montvale, and Moneta elementary schools are helped with these food sacks weekly.
Thanks to all that donated to this wonderful cause for children.
