If you're going the track route, look no further than Cisco. They are the A+ setup to which all others are compared, for sure. I'd put Magnum Metalz next (original guy who started Vector downriggers). Then, I'd put Traxstech as a next-tier (but awesome) contender, along with Muddy Creek Tackle and then, maybe, Bert's Tackle and Cannon (probably pretty equivalent). When I was researching systems, ~$1,200 is where I was coming out last Fall, but I was outfitting only a small fish-n-ski. Cisco is the way to go, and Magnum Metalz next.

I can vouch for the quality of Cisco rod holders. I love my tracks. Each side is equipped with 4 rod holders and a cup holder. The rod holders have a bar in them that lock in gimbals. Once you get your angles set, there is no need to do anything else. The poles stay right where they are no matter how fast you travel or how bumpy it is. You can easily play with 4 poles at once and sip on your favorite beverage! They are pricey though.... but once you buy them, you will never have to buy anything else. In the picture below, note that I have 2 extra rod holders bar-mounted in the back.

If you go with the Cisco's, be aware that between the time Yam bought his holders and I got mine, the gimble part that is machined into the rod holders has changed to a flat base and has no gimble bar.
I called the company after reading yams post wondering why my holders didn't have gimble bar in them. The salesman told me that they had complaints about the bar tearing up non- gimble rod butts, so they changed their product and did away with the gimble part as standard.
He did said, that it would be no problem swapping mine out for that style. (They still do that gimble process upon request.)
Maybe this will help future purchasers to know this.

I have the Traxtech system on mine. Been very happy with it so far. Never knew my rods needed to be reel up until now though

Actually, I had to request the gimbal as well. My first set of holders didn't have them. However, I modified them by bending a bar into the drain holes. When I bought my track system I asked them if they could do something like I did and this is when I learned that gimbles used to be the standard.

I have traxstech with cannon holders and am super happy with them. Did end up getting new rods because the reels would spin as mentioned. Just waited until I built up some gift cards. One thing I haven’t seen on any of these is the 6” riser that goes under the track. I think it’s nice in a bay boat since the gunnels (right term?) are so much lower.
Also if you catch bait alone get the bow fishfinder.

I’ve been running the Quickdraws for almost 15yrs now - damn I’m getting old. I have broken about 6-8 of them in that time - no issue as they replace them for free if you pay return shipping - well I assume they do still through Basspro. I do like them, however, I am a fan of Yam’s Cisco holders if you have rods with the gimbal butt. They are very versatile, durable, and just plain look nice. They are pricey, but what isn’t in the marine industry these days - buy quality and be done with it.

much appreciation for all the feedback on this thread.....including BigUn's observation regarding "my LAST boat".....true words. From the first time I met Yam gleefully catching alewives in the back of my cove till now, I've maintained that if it's good for Yammy...it's good for me. Ordering up the Cisco's with gimbals....haven't decided yet on those beautiful cup holders....not sure they come in paint can size.
