The Striper Mafia March Madness, sponsored by Moser Electric & Plumbing, tournament was held today, 3/16 on Smith Mountain Lake with post-tournament check-in and awards at Hot Shots.
46 teams and approximate 120 anglers, including 10 youth and 8 lady anglers, competed for over $5000 in cash plus other prizes.
The post-front bite proved to be challenging but some nice fish were caught, and released, by the anglers in this Catch-Photo-Release format tournament.
Winners were:
1st Place - Team Squidhound - 72.75” - $1850 - Matthew & Norman Hinman and David Farley
2nd Place - Team Blackwater Bruisers - 68” - $825 - Ronnie Anderson Jr, Robbie Doyle and Rodney Wright
3rd Place - Team LiveBaitJunkEE - 66.5” - $500 - Kurt Hammerschmidt
4th Place - Team Topwater Rushers - 65.25” - $350 - Brent Babb & Keith Mattson
5th Place - Team Sugar Grove - 62.75” - $250 - David Blankenship
Big Fish - Team Topwater Rushers - 37” - $1100 - Brent Babb and Keith Mattson
Two youth submitted fish in the Youth category
1st Place - Devan of Team Lawrence with a 36.75” fish
2nd Place Wyatt of Team Reely Blessed with a 29” fish
5 non-placing teams won their $100 entry fees back in a random drawing and all teams won a prize in a raffle drawing with prizes from the many tournament sponsors.
The anglers raised $880 for the Smith Mountain Lake Marine Fire & Rescue department through a raffle for two Catch the Fever Striper Stealth rods.
