Well guys, I don't think you will be disappointed. I'm not anywhere close to the striper fisherman you guys are and if they work for me, I'm sure they will work for all of you. And no... I sure don't get any commission from Smack Tackle.
I first learned about the Giz-3's & 4's a few years ago from reading some forums out of Ohio and thought I would give them a try on a trip to Lake Cumberland. They worked so well in 2011 that I decided to add a few more to my tackle box my 2012 sprink trip. When I saw the new top water Smack Jack, I ordered one and tried it at Raystown. I was hooked! Ordered a few more for my brother-in-law for our upcoming trip to Cumberland. When we didn't receive the order in time for the trip, I contacted Todd. He was fantastic and overnighted a few Smack Lacks to me at Greider Hill so that they were waiting for us when we arrived. They made our trip!
Oh... and as far as the "dreaded green fish"... chase them my way in May. I love catching stripers but just plain enjoy fishing. I'm learning alot from all of you guys on this forum and hope to hear of you "smacking the stripers" this spring. C'mon May 11th... I need a break from the office.

Well, it's soon going to be time for myself and my PA buddies to return to Smith Mountain. We enjoyed the lake so much last year that we decided to return in Spring 2014. The six of us will be coming this year May 3-10. I've been faithfully reading all of your posts since I went home last year trying to learn as much as I can from all of you that fish the lake on a regular basis. I love the reports and the pictures are great. Kudos to Bentrod and Mward!!! BTW... I talked last year before I fished SML about Smackjacks and Giz4's that performed so well for us at Lake Cumberland and guess what... caught a few fish the first night on a Smackjack and nothing the rest of the week . The rest of our stripers came mostly on Thundersticks... as many of you recommended. I am well stocked up on Thundersticks for this years trip along with all of the other recommendations Bentrod and others made last year. Even an old dawg can learn new tricks! I would like some advice on using flukes. I've read how you use them for jigging on the bottom in cold weather but does your technique change in the warmer weather/water of spring? Are they effective at night when we are tossing top water lures at the banks? If so, what type of retrieve should be used? I rigged up a 2 white flukes like Bentrod described on another striper forum... one on a 3/8 oz. jig head with another approx. 16 inches above on a hook tied directly to the line when fishing Raystown Lake last fall and had some luck just retrieving them like a crank bait. Looked like two baitfish chasing each other! One last question. I see that some of you did buy some Smackjacks and Giz4's last year. Have any luck with them? Maybe I'll have a chance to meet some of you when we are down in May. We're staying near Campers at Coveside Cottages. Tight lines everyone!!!
