My wife and I had a great fishing vacation at SML. We stayed in a house around R11 which gave us good access to both rivers. We fished from Craddock Creek to R34 to B22. We had success on docks, main points, and deep water walls. Best baits were wacky rigged Senkos in green pumpkin, drop shot with Zoom finesse worm in green pumpkin, Texas rigged white Zoom fluke, and a homemade flat sided crankbait with chartreuse sides and orange belly. Also had one morning with success on a spook type bait. In addition to to the LMB’s and smallies we also managed a bonus Striper, a surprising yellow perch, and the wife’s 30# catfish on 8# line. It was a great week. We will be back in August.
Topwater in the morning switching to Senko's around docks in the afternoon. Stay out of the main channel after 11am until the sun goes down.
sounds great are there any specific colors i should stick to
Did you not read the report at the top? He tells you exactly what they used, including colors? Do you just not read the reports? or just fail to retain anything from them? Im not trying to sound mean here, but sheesh everything youre asking is answered in this thread before you ask it.
Great report andyw, yall got on some hogs, thanks for sharing the great pics you and your wife took, seems like yall had lots of fun.
I was supposed to come down the 24-28 of May but it fell through, looks like i missed some good fishing this past weekend
thats a hog of a flathead! was that some bi-catch that yall boated while throwing for green fish? bet that was a bit of a surprise.
yep, it was caught while targeting green fish. I was very impressed that my wife was able to get it in with a medium power spinning rod and reel with 8# test line. It looks bigger than it was because she's holding it away from her body. She didn't want it near her. LOL.
