Was just curious whether anyone has had luck with wilder colors when fishing artificials for stripers. My tackle box is full of old standbys -- Rebels and Redfins, etc. -- but ALL are variants of standard silver and shad colors... I'm kinda bored with them. When looking at new offerings from manufacturers just as LiveTarget, Duo, Lucky Craft and Yo Zuri, I'm amazed at the cosmetics now available, and wonder whether it would be a waste of money to try out some new-to-me patterns... Chartreuse, orange, red, hot pink, banana peel, wonder bread, jet black, etc., etc. -- combinations usually seen with walleye and saltwater cranks. Anyone have any favorites that are effective for SML outside of the silver and shad combos?

This year alone I've caught stripers on Rayburn Red (bright red-orange) rattle baits, French pearl jerkbaits, citrus shad crank baits, and soft plastic jerk baits. As I look back over my recent experience, any kind of jerk bait is just as likely to attract a striper as it is a bass.
