Help the Victims of the Lynchburg Tornado

During our Striper Mafia Spring Fling on 4/21 we will be raffling off a Striper Soup Bait & Tackle Moeller M-26-PB (Power Bubble Version) along with a Striper Mafia Measuring board with all proceeds going to the Red Cross to be designated for the Lynchburg Tornado Relief to aid those suffering from the storm over this past Sunday. The prizes will be separately raffled giving two chances to win.

Tickets will be $5/each or 5 for $20. The is open to anyone that would like to participate, but must be present at the post-tournament awards to win.

Just some info from the Red Cross on activities already in play to assist those affected by this weekend's storms - and where the funds contributed will be going to assist....

From Michell McCormick, Executive Director, Blue Ridge Chapter of the American Red Cross:

We had two shelters up and ready for occupants on Sunday evening. The one in Amherst closed on Monday, and the one in Thomas Road has been housing some storm victims the last few days. This shelter may or may not remain open after Wednesday – all depends on the need.

Red Cross is currently doing disaster assessment in the areas of Lynchburg and Elon. These assessments allow us to open casework to help provide some monetary assistance to those affected and in need. As funds allow, there is opportunity for longer care, but we also work with partnerships in the area to make sure everyone has a place to go that have misplaced.

We are providing snacks and water from our mobile feeding unit to those cleaning up in Lynchburg. We will also have a Red Cross area in Elon starting Wednesday, alongside other services to provide snacks, water, assistance and help to those affected in that area.

Forgive the brief overview, but as time continues the needs can shift but this is a current level of how we are working with partners and in the communities as of this afternoon. As Elon area opens for access to aid, we may or may not have a larger presence considering what their requests are.

Thanks to our anglers and others we raised $1400 for the American Red Cross Virginia Region to be dedicated to disaster relief for the recent tornados in and around Lynchburg.
