I have an Lowrance elite 7ti on the boat now. I just bought a combo deal of an elite 12ti and an elite 9ti. I am gonna need to sell either the 9 or the 12 to supplement back some of the funds. My thought is to keep the 7 and 9 sell the 12 and have 2 screens. Or sell the 7 and 9 keep just the 12” screen. What are you guys thoughts.

Sell the 7. Keep the big screens and be happy.

I’d put one on the bow and one on the dash. Use your wifi pad and mount it near the stern so you can see it when your watching boards out back.

Umm not sure I’ll be keeping both big ones. I am trying to get some money back from the purchase. That’s how I talked my wife in to it. Lol

If you have room I'd definitely keep the 12

I'm a big fan of having 2 separate screens. It just opens up more options to run your setup. I like my 2d on one screen and my structure scan on the other screen. I'm also a believer in bigger is better. When I had my 7's I kept wanting bigger. I'm happy now with my 2 9's. I would either keep the 12 so you have more screen for multiple windows or if you are wanting to recuperate some money id sell the 9 and keep the 12.

If I did a bow mount what transducer do you put on the front. I have a total scan on the stern now would I just put a down scan on the trolling Motor?

I recommend having a side/down scan 'ducer on the front. Don't limit your ability to see just because you're fishing. I would argue having the total scan capability up front is just as important as having it on your console.
Said another way, if you limit the capability of your 'ducer you're limiting what you can see/learn from your electronix.

If you put side scan on your tm, it really can help with finding bait and also following schools of fish after they pass you. Rotate the tm and see what direction they’ve gone. Kinda like a 360 humminbird.

Do you run into issues with catching bait in shallow water with that big transducer on the front. I was in the mud a couple times last weekend catching bait think I would be running it in the ground. As of now when bait is deep enough for side scan I find it when I am sitting at the console then try to position myself over it. Drive in reverse and throw from them bow. I am thinking the bow mount would help me so that I am directly over the bait when I throw. I doubt I’ll use that screen for fishing at all due to most my rods are positioned from the middle of the boat back to the stern. I am mostly always at the console when fishing. I will put a couple down rods towards the front but never in front of the deck.

I've got the TotalScan on my stern, as well. I'd been looking at putting the same up front on my TM and running two units, like you. I love everything about the TotalScan transducer except for its size. I've yet to find any good options for mounting a TotalScan up front. Found this option (https://www.transducershieldandsaver.com/product/ts-dss3-ts-combo-fits-lowrance-total-scan-transducer-on-a-trolling-motor/), but it's too pricey, IMO. I'm okay with keeping transducers on the stern, but would like to have an additional larger unit to supplement my Simrad Go7 XSE. If you decide to sell the 12, give me a shout, Chris. Thanks.

If you're gonna run in shallower water just adjust the height/depth of your TM shaft.

Welp they have arrived. One thing for sure is I’ll be keeping the 12” it is a beauty. Now to figure out 7” or 9” on the bow or sell both and just stare googlely eyed at the 12”. Not a bad position to be in. Lol

Those by any chance come from Green Top? I know they had a really good deal going on recently on combos.
