I will be fishing with my buddy on SML on the 21st of April... do y'all anticipate the fish being on beds at this time?
Otherwise, what kind of techniques work for you during this period?

The big girls are up now but they aren’t spawning. They’re feeding good.
If it ever warms up, they’ll probably be on beds within a week of your timeframe as that is generally the timeframe it happens every year. The water is a bit colder this year though.
We always catch big bass on large gizzards while striper fishing from the end of Feb thru early May. Right up on the banks. So I’d be using something that looks like an 8” gizzard swimming parallel to the bank.

Yep, should definitely be some on beds then. The Big Bass tournament is the weekend before though, so I have a feeling a lot of fish will be pulled off beds for that. I hate that it falls during the spawn every year.

The Full Moon will be on March 31 and again on April 30. If the water temp. rises the fish will be there.

As johnr stated, I see a lot of pictures of big bass caught by striper fisherman. Is there any certain area of the lake or type of bank that seems to hold more largemouth?

I’ve caught several, maybe 10-15 citation class largemouth on gizzards within sight of halesford bridge, in the last 5 years. Plenty of others have come from elsewhere. I’ve found them everywhere, but the vast majority come from main lake or just inside creek and cove mouths. Of course, that’s where I find most of my stripers too. The larger creeks can be treated like main lake for their main stems in my opinion.
