I caught a small large mouth bass two days ago on a crappie jig and he is very small around 4 inches long, but yesterday he shocked me. I kinda figured he would ignore the worm when i put it in the tank but he didn't. He swam away at first but circled around nosed down on it and picked it up then he swallowed it. This kinda shocked me that after all he went through monday that he would still eat 4 medium sized red worms. Does anyone else feel shocked about this? As he grows i will probabaly post more on how he has shocked me.
Thanks, penhook

A Fish has to eat every day.
We had a pet bass for a while, it only had one eye. We released it into our pond once it was too big for a 100 gallon tank and we’d catch that fish several times per week out of the pond. Bass aren’t very smart. But they are hungry.
We also had a northern pike in our pond for about 10 years. It was often seen but never caught. As far as I know, it only ever got caught once in it’s life and that was the day it ended up in the pond.

I actually used to have one when I was a kid that lived about 6 months in a tank in my room. I would catch minnows for him in a creek or the lake to feed him. He would attack them pretty aggressively so it's not too surprising. I think the site of an easy meal is hard for them to pass up.
