I have noticed a number of boats at SML that seem to have a number of green skirts on their lines. I have noticed them as I past them. Is this a lure or an add on to a lure?

Green or chartreuse? Chartreuse because of the stained/muddy water! More visible! Muddy water most throws a pearl fluke w chartreuse tail! Or all chartreuse fluke! Chartreuse swimjig, chartreuse bucktails! Possibly even a swimjig with a chartreuse fluke to give that fluke some vibration and flair! May not be a bad idea to try something in solid black as fish see in shadows! Or outlines of baits! Clearer water go to your more natural colors (white/olive/pumpkin) Also play with the sizes of your baits! In really cold water, they are after an easy meal. Smaller bait will get you more bites in clear water! But if they can't see that little bait(muddy water) it's not doing any good so bump up the size of your bait! Hope this helps!

To add on to what Gotcha said, a lot of people around here use what is called the "Swamp Monkey" Its a bait that is made here locally. Its a Jig head with a skirt and super fluke. He makes some of the best Jig heads I have ever used.

Thanks guys. I have been fishing the lake for a number of years, but mainly for bass and crappie. It has been years since I have concentrated on stripers and then we mainly used rebel lures and bucktails.

The "green meanies" - clear green shad bodies - are used a lot on Umbrella rigs as well..... can't place a green skirt though...

Might be chartreuse bucktails with fluke or grub trailers. Like gotcha said alot of people use chartreuse in muddy water.
