44 teams and over 100 anglers competed today in the unseasonably cold temperatures on Smith Mountain Lake, looking for the longest two striped bass in the Striper Mafia Fall Classic - a catch-photo-release style tournament. Of the 44 teams, 30 teams turned in fish. Some quality fish with 4 citations turned in. 1st Place - Team Lawrence (Jason Lawrence, Dale Lawrence & Matthew Lawrence of Pilot, VA) - 75.5" total length - $1,900 2nd Place - Team PrimeTime (Harley Cox & Kaylee Cox of Roanoke, VA) - 71.75" total length - $850 3rd Place - Team SquidHound (Matt Hinman, David Farley & Norman Hinman of Hardy, VA) - 71.5" total length - $470 4th Place - Team Claytor Kings (Greg Hill, Charles Lee, & Kamrin Hill of Christansburg, VA) - 69.25" total length - $330 5th Place - Team NightKrawler (Khris Bradley, Krissie Bradley & Harley Bradley of Blueridge, VA) - 65.5" total length - $220 Big Fish - Team Lawrence - 39.5" - $1,025 In the Youth Division, 6 youth competed and the winners were: 1st Place - Matthew Lawrence of Pilot, VA - Team Lawrence - 39.5" 2nd Place - Kaylee Cox of Roanoke, VA - Team PrimeTime - 37.75" 3rd Place - Kamrin Lee of Christiansburg, VA - Team Claytor Kings - 35.75" 6 Ladies competed for the season long Ladies competition, with Carrie Simpkins of Blacksburg, VA taking the lead in the 1st event with a 34" striped bass. In addition to the fishing competition, anglers honored our Nation's Veterans by contributing items and packing Care Packages to be shipped to our military troops currently serving overseas. Over 40 care packages were prepared for our Troops.
