I am in process of getting a 30 gallon super bait tank ii I was wondering how do u drain the water out? Does it have to be pumped out or does it have a drain on bottom. I have not seen tank yet going to pick it up next Sunday.

You can use a section of pool hose to siphon it out. This method is very fast and will vacuum out the settled crap.
I use my deep water 2000 gph pump for the job. I plug it in where my tank pump plugs in and hang it over the side. I also use my extra pump to bring water in from depths ranging from 3 to 40 feet.
You can also hook up a small hose to the bait pump if you haven't locked up all your pump fittings with uneccessary clamps or glue. However, this approach takes longer and doesn't suck out the settled crap.
Net buckets and elbow grease do the job as well.

You can also add a drain if you so desire.

I screw on a hose fitting to the dannco bulkhead on the bait side of the tank and just turn the tank on. Gets most of the water out.

You can also add a drain if you so desire. I talked to Ron about this when I picked up my tank - he seemed to recommend against it for risk of a leak and water getting in between the walls - but said if you did, that he would recommend that you get a bulkhead fitting, and then a piece of PVC that would slip over the bulkhead. Drill a hole on the inside of the tank that would fit the bulkhead, and then on the outside a little larger to accommodate the PVC - basically use the PVC as a bushing/spacer for the bulkhead to help prevent from cranking down on the bulkhead fitting and deforming / crushing the tank wall which could cause leaks.

This is probably a stupid question, but at the cost of bait tanks now days, shouldn't a drain plug be standard equipment?
Or, is the risk of leaks just too great to do that?

In my case, I don't have anywhere to "drain" 35gallons of saltwater, so a tank drain doesn't do me any good. I either pump my tank out at my dock using a sump pump, or I bucket the water out.

A 2" trailer hitch will provide a nice drain....... Trust me, I know.

OK, got that. But if you trailer your boat, couldn't you drain it onto the floor, let it run into the bilge, then let the bilge drain when boat plug is pulled? Once boat plug is pulled, bilge is drained while going down the road, then you rinse floor, and flush bilge with a water hose? I guess I'm just lazy, and would prefer an easy way to do it if possible.

It sounds like there's more to this story.
