It is a put and take fishery, should be a boat limit, not per angler. Most of us only keep a few, a couple times a year, and we are going to keep the smaller ones. Sounds like they are working for their money, trying to trick people into telling them what they want to hear.
I haven't kept one all year this year, but now that I seen that panckake striper recipe, I might have to bring 2 home this w/e to try that. YUMO !

And that's a 2 per person per day limit. Dropping fish off at the dock, then going back out for more is illegal also.

Interesting stuff here if you're using bait. You have a couple "boat rods" out who anyone might have baited and dropped. Someone other than the person who baited and dropped it reels it in. Who's limit does it apply to? First assumption is the person who reeled it in...but, hmm...you know how the wardens can make things a little sticky sometimes...
This came up due to kids on the boat. A 9-year-old reeled in a fish. She didn't bait it or drop it, and got a little bit of help getting it in, though she was on the reel the whole time. Can she "keep" it with that fish applying to her limit?
FYI, I had two on ice and we threw it back....

That does get sticky because I have seen some wardens actually try to lead conversations there with the obvious intent on ticketing. Some kids need help getting a striper/other large fish in. Personally I would let it go if I helped bring it in and had my limit but what if the child did not limit out and the fish was legal but dying? Too many what if's for me. It is frustrating because I hear of people that catch a limit, unload, catch a limit, unload, etc. etc. and in the mean time someone doing their best to abide by the regs helping kids with fish can get the wrath of the VDGIG. Mixed feelings on that one and the wardens. Most have been very polite and good natured but the ones trying to trap me on how many deer I killed last year need to get a life.

Those with common sense and the others. Someone who limited out, unloaded, and went back and kept more would be itching like mad for a call to the warden, and most certainly if they came across like an a**hole. I'm not sure I could resist ratting them out on "home" waters like the New, SML, or our trout streams around here...makes it personal! Closest I've seen to that is stripers getting kicked off Kitty Hawk pier in the 90's cause guys caught bigger ones...greedy SOB's.

No kidding...the part that was tough (think this was 2 years ago) is that I harvested 2 deer. One on my tags and one on a DMAP tag so I answered 2 and then had to explain for 15 minutes how it went down and why my license reflected 1. Felt like I was taking part in the Inquisition.
