Keep an eye on your valuables at the dock. Thieves got me out of about $400 the other night. Climbed in the boat unscrewed the on board charger unhooked the leads from the battery ( was nice enough to put the wing nuts back on). Stole the charger, a new set of scales and Plano boxes full of hard lures. Can't believe they didn't take the two brand new AC Delco batteries. Just keep an eye out for strange activity around your dock. Police said they heard reports of a couple people in kayaks. Sure would like to catch them climbing in my boat one night.

Although they haven't gotten my boat, there have been at least 2 reports of stolen items from boats at the Waterwheel Marina in the last 2 weeks.

They've hit a couple of people I know recently nearby you. I hope they get what's coming for them soon.

Did you file a report with the Franklin Cty Sheriff - it not, please do so..... I know it seems like there is not much they can do, but this needs to be on their radar to up some presence....

I keep trail cameras at our place. Very affordable option to security cams. easy to hide and their eyes are on 24/7

I have game cameras up now. This is the second time I've been hit. The first time was at our house in Betty's creek. They stole all the rods out the boat. I now carry all the rods and fish finder back up to the house. Never thought they would unbolt the charger out of the boat. If they show up again I'll see who it is.

Good luck with your patrols. There's very few things worse then a no account thief.

There is a pattern here where they are hitting multi-slip "Community" docks - likely where a random person may not seem out of place.
Keep your eyes out and if you see something out of the ordinary, call the Franklin or Bedford Sheriff and if you can get a pic of the boat or people.

Thanks for the warning. I wonder if they make security bolts when you mount accesories that would make it harder and maybe not worth their time. Was thinking like those bolts you use for props and outdrives.

My experience is there are only two ways to beat a thief. One is to have stuff that ain't worth stealing. The other is put things where they can't see them or know they are there. And that doesn't work all the time. I've tried both measures.

Yep - there are various types of "security" screws and bolts that require special bits of varying level of availability / accessibility. There are also ones that are "one way" - you can screw then in but can't back it out.
