I'm getting ready to head out for a long trip this weekend and my plan was to catch shiners in the creek and take them. However, the shiners aren't in, so I'm gonna be catching alewives at the lake and taking them with me. Rather than risk running my spare battery for the road trip, I was thinking of wiring the tank to the trailer or truck for power. I won't have any power at camp so I won't be able to charge the tank battery and I don't want to risk it.
I could always buy another battery but I thought that maybe hooking to the trucks 12v source might be cheaper and more reliable. Any ideas?

I know guys that have done that tapping into the 7-pin harness - may or may not have to add a fuse in the fuse box on your truck for that. They setup a harness on the trailer side to pigtail off to the boat to feed power in.
If you have a DC-DC charger you can also charge your batts on the road like this
