I have a minn kota 36 volt riptide ulterra trolling motor. About 2 weeks ago I was pulling into a dock with my boat. Kaboom! Yep, I didn't stop in time before the prop on the tm had broke. I had a week before the tournament to find another prop. I found one at Captains Quarters. I didn't try it out until the beginning of the tournament yesterday morning. After deployment the tm made a loud noise in the motor. The noise was louder then the normal operating noise it makes. That's the best way I know to describe the noise. After a while the noise would stop but then proceed after a while. Any ideas, and suggestions are very much appreciated. Also, any good recommendations on who could fix it. This is very annoying. Thanks for your help

I would call Ben McCall at SML Marine Electronics & Outdoor Specialties.

I was going to suggest SML Marine as well.... did you happen to notice any wobble in the prop? Wonder if it may have bent the prop shaft? Wonder if something like that may be under warranty?

If it is a bent shaft the downside is the shaft is a part of the motor wrappings and not a cheap part but the upside is it's a fairly easy fix - though can benefit from 3 hands when reinserting the shaft / windings

I checked on the price for the armature assembly. It's about $100. Just wonder if I could change it out.

That's not as bad as I though. Yam and I have had them out. A little tougher on the 112 because of the larger myorvand the trick is getting the brushes clear t remove and reinsert but doable

Good news! I talked to minn kota customer service help. Armature on back order and was encouraged to take motor to one of there service reps. I then called a rep out west to order the Armature. I told him what happened. He said the scag had probably twisted in turn causing the 2 bolts to have bent causing the noises. He talked me out of buying the $100 item, and spending $4 on the bolts. I went to the lake this pm to pick the boat up. Sure enough the scag was twisted. I straightened it up and the noises are gone so far.

Good deal - a quick and cheap fix - I forgot to mention that in the post today - think I may have suggested that it could be the issue this weekend when we talked but wasn't quite sure how that could make the racket you were hearing....
