Question - do you leave your bait tank hooked up and running on your house battery while that battery is also charging?

Question - do you leave your bait tank hooked up and running on your house battery while that battery is also charging? I've done it a bunch of times. As a matter of fact, last spring I left my tank running and the battery connected to the charger for over 2 weeks. The pump will have a little extra output. I don't put the tank on the house battery though. It always gets it's own power.

I have done this for a very long time now with the tank running one or two nights at the dock on weekends and longer on vacation when fishing - currently my tank is connected to my house battery - the downside is your house battery is not getting a good charge when at the dock with the tank running. Rule 500 gph pump pulls about 3.1 Amps, so you're consuming those vs. putting that into the battery at whatever rate your charger supplies. One of these days I'll get around to adding the AC pump to plug into shore power when at the dock - or adding an invert and a few switches so that I can power my pump via the inverter when at the dock to let the charger fully feed the battery.

hmmm...so a 4 AMP per bank battery charger is not going to replace much current when that 500 GPH Rule is hooked up to it and running at the same time. I have an inverter so it looks like I need to start using that

I think I am going to go with the minn kota precision MK 330P. International marine has it for $264.99 with free shipping and Minn Kota has a $50 rebate bringing it to $214.99 seems like a really good deal.

Gander in Roanoke has a Minn Kota 345 precision on sale for $299 and an additional 25% off of that so about $225 I guess. Only see one though.

I have a converter I can plug in and once used it all the time until the power kicked off at HHinn one night. Grrrrrrrr Now, I just use the house battery and hook up the charger. This way, if the power kicks off, my tank will still be running. I use an ACR switch that charges my house when running. Thus, my house battery always has a real good charge on it anyway.
