It seems here of late that my motor is not responding the way it should. The range on the remote is not what it use to be . Have changed batteries in remote, tried new remote. When trying to turn motor either way one small tap of turn button's will cause motor to swing far in the direction pushed. Hard to keep a straight bearing. Pulled head off motor and checked for corrosion on terminal pins to gps board, and top of motor base to check control board. All looks new inside. The motor is 3 years old any suggestions on what could cause this? Has anyone experienced this. Will swing even when I'm next to motor.

Check the connection between the power plug and the unit. This usually has a shrink coating over it. I had one on my old skiff that acted squirrelly and connection had worked loose. It didn't have enough power to work properly.

I had exactly the same problem. Sluggish response. Turned out to be the receiver in the control head.
I had to replace the control head...the entire top half part of the head. I have the 2013 - 101 riptide saltwater unit. Minnkota sent me the part for free under warranty.
You might give them a call?

Here is an earlier thread I posted last year. StriperJohn mentions trying a coil to enhance reception. You might try that as well. smlfishingforums.proboards.com/thread/3226/ipilot-minor-issue?page=1Quote: If you have remote distance issues with your Copilot you can take the casing off-2 screws and attach an extension to the antenna inside. I added a 1 foot coil and extended my range about 8 feet all I needed to operate from the back of my boat when the remote battery gets low. No idea what the ipilot looks like but it must have an antenna in the housing somewhere.

Now the real question is..... does the new control board still provide that ultra responsive gps that will keep you within a 500' area when on anchor lock 😉

Yup, possibly a dying control board in the head. I haven't had this personally happen, but I know of others that have. Cheap easy fix. Should be around $120 for the board.
That being said, maybe check your battery connections like drag said. If the voltage drop is too high then the motor will act as you are describing. Clean that battery up good, and all connections, and make sure that battery is in good shape.
